Take a digital photo of the

general area

Do a thumbnail sketch of the composition with the same dimensions as the canvas

 Position easel so the canvas and palette are in the shade

Paint a line drawing of the composition on the canvas

Paint the darkest shadow areas of the largest masses

Paint remainder of shadow areas of the largest masses

Paint light areas and cover the canvas with paint
