| Step 1 Review Photograph and establish Composition drawing a small thumbnail sketch of same. |
Step 2 Sketch the Composition on the canvas using the photograph and thumbnail sketch. |
Step 3 Premix color/value on Studio Palette |

| Step 4 Paint in darkest darks in a thin/transparent manner. | Step 5 Continue painting in foreground darks. | Step 6 Paint in background darks |

| Step 7 Paint in light areas of canvas with exception of background snow and other elements near the center of interest. |
Step 8 Paint in the remainder of the canvas being ever mindful of the value differences between foreground and background elements (cooler lights and cooler and lighter darks in recession). |
Step 9 Complete painting adding light and dark
